BIOGRAPHY

Rebecca Guinn is a contemporary painter whose work reflects a lifelong connection to light, landscape, and memory. Raised with an early passion for art, she persuaded her parents to enroll her in painting lessons instead of piano — a decision that set the course for her creative life.

Before devoting herself fully to painting, Rebecca earned a degree in computer science and worked from 1984 to 1992 in the U.S. and Belgium, developing software for telephone systems and later contributing to projects at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She later worked as a self-employed contractor, teacher, and librarian, balancing analytical work with creative pursuits.

After raising her family, she returned to the workforce in diverse roles, including Calnet (2012–2014), Placerville Fruit Growers (2020–2022), and as a community canvasser for Unite Here in multiple election cycles. Throughout these chapters, painting remained a constant practice — a way to observe, interpret, and connect with the world around her.

Since 2022, Rebecca has pursued her art with renewed intensity, focusing on pastel and acrylic works inspired by the Sierra foothills where she lives. Her paintings explore the sensory experience of landscape — the taste, light, and emotional resonance of familiar California places.
