My Work

My paintings grow from the light and landscapes of California’s Sierra foothills — the creeks, orchards, and ridges that surround my home. These familiar places are my constant subjects, shifting daily in color and mood. I paint them not to record a view, but to express how the land feels — its warmth, stillness, and quiet radiance.

Working primarily in pastel over gouache and in layered acrylics, I build surfaces that move between realism and abstraction. Each layer is a conversation between sight and sensation. I experience color synesthetically: gold tastes of sunlight and resin, blue hums like distant water. Through this translation of the senses, landscape becomes emotion — a memory you can almost touch.

My goal is to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary — to let viewers feel the breath of a place and the fleeting beauty of light. In every painting, I hope to capture the intimacy between human perception and the natural world, and to share the quiet wonder that lives just beyond the threshold of home.
